The Dublin Journal reports recent foreign and American news. It cites The National Intelligencer on U S speculations that Russia and other powers may press for naval concessions, noting Buonaparte’s downfall and British action in the Atlantic amid signals of conflict and casualties.
A garbled OCR fragment presents a dated political discourse on allegiance loyalty and Protestant succession. It cites a Grand Lodge meeting, Irish Orange Men, and a speech read July 12 1813, debating constitutional limits and the Crown's succession amid sectarian tension.
A dated proclamation from the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland urges members to uphold loyalty to the king and Protestant unity. It denounces Papist slanders, praises Orangemen, and warns against sedition while calling for temperate, steadfast conduct amid political strife. Includes social notices: births, marriages, and stock-market entries.
In a routine session Mr Giffard praised Mr Peel for his loyal and spirited conduct on the Insurrection Bill. A committee of five Aldermen and five Common Council men was formed to prepare a public resolution. The assembly adjourned to a generous dinner hosted by sheriff Wegtax with toasts honoring the Duke of Cumberland and the Lord Lieutenant amid a formal, ceremonial atmosphere.
In Down District the Loyal Orange Lodges met to celebrate the Glorious Anniversary of William with a service at the Cathedral. A sermon by Rev PSM Comming preceded resolutions of gratitude to the Duke of Devon and to local officials for accommodations and support.
A Dublin Town commemoration on the Bwthe Hogue anniversary saw Orange Lodges form a long procession. They marched from the Tower of the Church to Kilkyman and Church Fall, greeted by James Verner and son, with thousands watching. The event was described as peaceful, orderly, and harmonious with flags flowing and a jovial crowd.
Fragmentary OCR preserves a lengthy Irish speech by Mrs Phillips and references to Mr Phillips and Mr Grattan. The notes recall discussions of Erin’s state, governance, and rights under British rule with critique of 1798 events and constitutional arguments.
