Great Fire at Rope-Yard Damages Dockyard and Stores
A large blaze swept the Royal Dock Yard and adjacent rope houses after a fire began shortly after midnight. Tar, hemp, and canvass fed the flames, threatening timber and storehouses. two killed and eight wounded reported, with extensive property loss and fear of further spread.
