Voyage of discovery to the Lachlan and Macquarie rivers
An account describes early 19th century exploration from Bathurst to the Lachlan and Lachlan river systems. It details landscape, rivers, natives, grazing country, and the march of exploration led by Oxley and Macquarie, noting vast distances, river navigability, inundations, and the pursuit of inland routes for settlement and trade. It covers native encounters, river bends, and the quest to identify rivers feeding Bass Strait, with observations on fauna, flora, and geography shaping colonial expansion plans.
