Controversy Over Romish Clergy in Wexford School Case

In February 1807 the General Quarterly Meeting of the Governors and Governesses of the Wexford Female School resolved that Romish clergy coercion fed by prejudice existed, calling for proof against charges. The body condemned seduction claims, urged the Catholic clergy to substantiate allegations, and ordered publication of the resolutions in the Dustin Journal to circulate widely.

Lieutenant Parley Leads Bold Capture off Port Antonio

Extract from a letter dated Port Royal 11 October reports two dozen Lark sailors led by Lieutenant Parley boarding and capturing the Spanish privateer Esperance after a gun duel off the Cuba shore. One seaman killed, several wounded, including Mr. M cloud, with prisoners landed for transfer at Port Royal. Captain Johnstone recounts the action and losses.
