On Saturday March 1 a man named Cahill together with his father John Cahill were executed at Gowla s Green for the murder of Patrick Linehan at Carrigaline. The father received a respite earlier but perished the same day after receiving a reprieve to await further inquiry. The son confessed guilt and showed penitence, while the father, though unjustly accused of concealment, maintained innocence and accepted the sentence.
