County Meath Meeting Chooses Hamilton Gorges as Chairman

In Navan on August 1 1785 a meeting of gentlemen freeholders resolved unanimously that Hamilton Gorges be made chair. They instructed their representatives to present a petition to Parliament and sent thanks to High Sheriff Henry Codd Pigeon for his role. John Elgu was thanked for his secret gates services and the meeting pledged support to pension measures and the authority of Dublin.

By the Right Hon James Horan mayor of Dublin a public sale yard is opened on Bonhim Street near Whomizs-tisder for receiving goods to be exposed for sale on the day of Dublin. Daily attendances at the weigh house in fair yard conducted by Josker Anbitewe the duly appointed weigh master. Terms and penalties for illegal weigh or sale after July 5.
