Ennis Quarter Sessions Riots over Fair at Derrygonnelly

At Derrygonnelly fair in July a riot erupted between Protestant and Catholic factions. Michael Cassidy and Denis McGrory led Catholic rioters. Protestants defended with local yeomen. After fourteen hours of testimony, Catholics were found guilty and Cassidy and McGrory jailed. others received lighter penalties.
