Dublin Corporation Chair Refuses to Put Resolution

In a quarter day meeting of the Barbee Surgeons Guild of St Mary Magdalin, Mr Irefiam Cregg refused to put a resolution opposing any Chief Magistracy candidate involved in police law. After harangues and an adjournment, efforts to eject him failed and the Corporation adjourned to a later date.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard St George dies in Portugal

An obituary from Oporto notes the death on March 16 of Richard St George, 42, MP for Charleville, Inspector General of Recruits, and former Lt. Col. of the 5th Dragoon regiment. Described as noble, generous, and fearless, his life blends military merit with humane compassion. His wife Mrs St George arrived in the city and mourners, including troops, paid him military honors at the water. A birth and two deaths are also recorded, including Mrs Bridget Seaver.

Proclamation Dissolving Irish Parliament in 1790

The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland announces that royal commands dissolve the prorogued Parliament. The Lords Spiritual and Temporal and the Knights, Citizens and Burgesses of the House of Commons are discharged from meeting on June 5 next. Issued at Dublin Castle on April 8, 1790, by Robert Hobart.

Proclamation Sets Dublin Parliament Date After Dissolution

By the Lord Lieutenant and Council of Ireland a royal proclamation declares the Parliament dissolved and to meet in Dublin on the 26th of May next. Writs will be issued to summon the assembly, with attendance of Prelates, Peers, and realm leaders, under royal license.

The text states a promissory note dated Monday in November 1790 and payable on June 1, 1798 without discount. It is signed by order of the managers and directors CHR and R. DEEY as secretaries.

The STATE LOTTERY OFFICE announces public sale days for granting certificates to holders of the 1789 Vickers lottery. Sessions run Tuesday March 23 from eleven to one, and continue weekly. Assessors appoint inspectors for linen trade in several counties

A long Dublin style notice lists meetings by location and date across Antrim Down Armagh Tyrone Fermanagh Mayo Louth Leitrim Longford Cork Carlow Clare Waterford and other counties to appoint linen cloth inspectors. It requires listing names and residences of three persons per county who are qualified, and two more from grouped counties to serve for one year, contingent on prior quantities of cloth sold or manufactured.
