Loyalist Verses Attacked by Common Council Leaders
A 1727 publication in the London and Foreign presses prints a poem by an honest liveryman lampooning Tory common council leaders and urging loyalty to the king. It rails at “Faith is Faction,” warns of Gibraltar maneuvers, and ends with a pro forma proclamation from Hu. Armach and others demanding political credit.
