Petition to Parliament Against Edict Restoring Duke du Maine
Yesterday arrived four British papers with a long memorial opposing the July 1714 Edict restoring Duke du Maine and declaring the Parliament cannot alter an edict. The memorial argues the petition undermines royal prerogative, weakens parliaments, and would set a dangerous precedent for Princes of the Blood and the Regency.
