Memorial and Answer on War in the North 1711
A long dispatch from Bender dated May 1 1711 in the Paris Gazette and from Madrid July 6 1711 reports a memorial presented to the Swedish king by Britain and the Dutch regarding an accelerated peace. It promises neutrality, free trade, and secure Baltic navigation while noting Swedish rejection of unconditional neutrality and alarm over Ottoman tie-ins. Separate notes from Corella and Zaragoza recount the Duke of Nodilles and the Duke of Vendofit planning campaigns as French troops move westward toward Segra and Joya.
