Plenipotentiaries Arrive with Noble Pageantry and Encampments
A detailed Regency era dispatch from Petersburgh notes the arrival on the 3d of Turkish and other plenipotentiaries with vast retinues. It describes 150 camels and 200 oxen, 400 attendants, and a public entry marked by pomp including a 120-dragoon detachment and lavish tents. The piece also reports military actions at Oczakow with 8000 troops, losses on both sides, and imperial advances against Turkish forces.
