Army Marches Through Difficult Forest Defiles in Europe
General Count Seckendorff encamped with a 45,000 strong army, arranged in four lines on a mountaintop fortress-like position. The march through a narrow forest defile tested supply lines, yet the baggage was protected by a disciplined escort with 500 horse at the front and a rear detachment. Only four wagons were plundered as the army pressed toward simmeren amid reports of Tyrolean resistance and ongoing Allied maneuvers around Mantua and Trentin.
