Dublin County Session Minutes On Copper Tokens Prohibition
In Kilmainham on September 3 1724 the High Sheriff and Dublin County Justices declare they will not receive or utter copper tokens issued by William Wood. They affirm current English money is the payment standard and condemn Copper Halfpence and Farthing tokens as ruinous to trade and tax revenue. A long list of local nobles gentry clergy and notable figures signaled support for the resolution.
