Spanish privateers and British ransom ships in Atlantic waters
Letters report two large Spanish privateers taken and carried to St Kitts, and a Spanish ship of 400 tons laden with cocoa, hides, tallow, and money seized near La Guerre and sent to St Kitts. The Fowey captured a 500 ton Spanish ship from Cadiz to Havana, sent to Port Royal with goods valued at about 150,000 pounds. Rippon and other British forces seized multiple Spanish vessels. Admiral Mathews poised for expedition with Mediterranean garrisons joining. Further dispatches detail European theaters with French, Bavarian, and Austrian movements, sieges, and troop reinforcements across Tyrol, Ingolstadt, and Bavaria.
