Long Private Letters from Charles Town Relate War News
Letters dat ed June 3 from Charles Town SC report an Affiento ship the Lex Horse from Havana with thirty English and four French passengers. Captain Jarvis among the English, his ship captured off Jamaica, prisoners later freed after twenty weeks. Also noted are whale catches, military preparations for the Mediterranean, Spanish plans against Georgia, embargos in Jamaica, and various royal and naval movements including ships, governors, and foreign diplomatic dispatches.
