Victory report and prisoner haul from the Audenarde campaign
From Audenarde and The Hague dated July 1708 reports an army victory over the French with numerous prisoners of note including princes and counts. Generals Cadogan and Stairs led successful assaults breaking enemy lines in hedges and villages, while Cadogan’s detachment repelled French assaults and captured posts near Gavre and Scheld crossings. Several letters describe pursuit toward Ghent and Tournai, with Marlborough’s forces said to have routed the French and taken hundreds of prisoners and standards.
