Privateer Broadside Battles Off Bilboa in December
Reports from December detail a fierce naval engagement where a Privateer, flying Dutch colors then English, chased and exchanged broadsides with a vessel from Bilboa. Capt. Rogers counterattacked with bow chasers, delivering multiple broadsides and forcing the other ship to surrender. the Privateer is named the Santa Rita, carrying 140 men, eight guns, and eight carriage pieces, sailing from Bilboa.
