Duke of Orleans Death and Heirship in Late 17th Century
The Duke of Orleans, nephew of Louis XIV and heir to the House of Orl eans, died at a young age after a paralytic episode at St Cloud. His father Philip held multiple titles, and the Duke was educated under royal favor, receiving the same officers and guards as his predecessor. The text notes conjectures about political intrigues, royal marriages, and the succession, including references to the Triple and Secret Leagues and alliances with England, Spain, and Savoy. The document records the late king Louis XIV appointing him to command in Italy in 1706 and quotes the king’s official commissioning.
