Fleet action near Jamaica reports Spanish galleons loss
The packet from Port Royal describes Commodore Wager's squadron engaging 14 Spanish ships between the Brem and Friends Islands. The Dolphin and Kingston clash with a Vice-Admiral and a galleon, with casualties on both sides. One Spanish galleon blown up, another run ashore, and reports claim only 17 survivors from the flagship. Notes that du Caffe may sail to France and privateers cruise off Carthagena as news arrives from Jamaica. Captain Tudor confirms no more survivors from the admiral’s galleon.
