Mrs. Mary A Nickerson of Somerville testified yesterday that she was a temperance worker, a member of the Loyal Temperance Legion and the first womar president of the Charlestown Gospe Temperance Union.She baa brought a petition in the Easl Cambridge Court asking that the divorce decree nisi granted to her husband, Herbert P. Nickerson, on thf grounds of intoxication be set aside Her husband is an ex-alderman 01 Somerville and has been engaged in the hay and grain business in that city foi 30 years.1 he case was taken under advisemen*by Judge Sanderson yesterday.Despite Mrs. Nickerson’s statements William G. Hawes, who said he former ly roomed at the Nickerson .house ir Somerville, testified that he saw Mrs Nickerson sign a pledge to abstair from drinking liquor in 1017. He statec that he frequently saw' Mrs. Nickersorunder the influence of liquor while hlt; was at the house. He told of one occasion when Mrs. Nickerson responded to his knock on the door and was forced to hold onto the doorknob prevent herself from falling.
