Nickerson of Somerville testified yesterday that she wa3 a temperance worker, a member of the Loyal Temperance Legion and the first woman president of the Charlestown Gospel Temperance Union.She has brought a petition In the East Cambridge Court asking that the divorce decree nisi granted to her husband, Herbert P. Nickerson, on the grounds of intoxication be set aside. Her husband is an ex-alderman of Somerville and has been engaged in the hay and grain business in that city for SO years.1 he case was taken under advisement by Judge .Sanderson yesterday.Despite Mrs. Nickerson’s statements, William O. Hawes, who said he formerly roomed at the Nickerson .house in Somerville, testified that he saw Mrs. Nickerson sign a pledge to abstain from drinking liquor in 1917. He stated i that he frequently saw' Mrs. Nickerson !under the Influence of liquor while he was at the house. He told of one occasion when Mrs. Nickerson responded to his knock on the door and was forced to hold onto the doorknob to prevent herself from falling.
