ra. uurns cays ner nusDana ASKeaHer to Sign Away Her Dower.In the divorce suit of Oliver P. Burris vs. Mary L. Burris, before Judge Lilley yesterday, some interesting testimony was brought out.The libellant, who is a watchmaker on Washington street, said that he married in Nebraska in 1883. He afterward came to Boston. He alleges that his wife left him in October, 1893. Miss Eliza Curd, who said she was employed in shadowing people, said she had been engaged by Mr. Burris to watch his wife, and she told of visits by friends to Mrs. Burris’s room when she lived on Milford street.Mrs. Burris said that her married life was anything but happy. When they separated Mr. Burris lel't her in March. 1894. She had been sick a great deal and her husband said he might as well be alone.He asked her to sign away her dower and she did so. When he left her he said: “Now, Mrs. Burris, I’m all through with you and don’t you make me any trouble or I’ll make it hot for you.” She went to her mother’s in Virginia. After she came x- j back she worked for a Boston Arm and he after that went to the Bermudas and was re waiter in a hotel. She came back to 49 th Milford street in October, 1896.Mrs. C. Emerson of 49 Milford street contradicted some of the things Miss Curd had said of Mrs. Burris, and she •» spoke well of that lady’s character. The case was adjourned to enable a search for some documents to be made. qOne of the matters brought up in the ii course of the trial was that on one occa-ed sion Mrs. Burris had her picture taken in tie j tights. Mrs. Burris said that in June, it, 1893, she was at Marion with some friends, and It was proposed among them that t they Should have their portraits taken. It a was all a little fun. One of the ladies a said Mrs. Burris had some tights, and a proposed that she put them on. What she wore was simply a suit of under- ii clothes. When Mr. Burris went there on 'V Saturday night she told him about the h picture, and he asked to see it. He was b very vexed, and said she wanted to shorn' her figure. t!
