Germany requests the U S president to invite belligerents to a plenipotentiary peace conference based on Wilsons Fourteen Points. Austria also seeks a peace conference and urges immediate armistice on land sea and air while withdrawal of occupied Teutonic forces is required before talks.
Mr and Mrs J Miller learn their son Allan Miller has been wounded in action again on the western front. Pte Miller, now with the Western University Corps, was recently in France after a prior wound. Official notice dated Sept 25 reports a gunshot wound to his left arm at General Hospital Deannes, Camiers.
A court case drew amusement as Georgg Rice, foreman on the Royal Bank construction, faced a charge for working on Sunday September 22 in defiance of the Lord's Day Act. The town constable Geo A Cole filed the charge, with H A Rutherford appearing for the town.
At a Saturday Hospital Board meeting, chairmen Hutcheon and others noted resignations of two nurses dated September 1. The board plans to engage four new nurses while delays persist on sewage system work after a site visit by Vase of Vagt Wilken Co. Donations to the hospital were listed and matron reported September admissions and discharges.
A regional meeting in Kenaston and surrounding towns organized the Victory Loan drive. The subdivision aims to raise $366000 by selling bonds over twenty days from October 28 to November 16, with a local target of $400000. Campaign officials, including J A Glands and Rev J Jeckeon, outlined plans and pledged to push the bond sale to exceed prior results.
Rev Joyce Davidson inducts new minister in Craik during Thursday afternoon service in the local Presbyterian church. Interim moderator opens meeting at 2 45 pm and the ceremony follows with remarks on faith and ministerial duties, followed by a reception for attendees.
The council session in Monty niche heard residents from the toui fathers convent and the Girls Shelter at Belleville discussed provincial writs andth erithes with Secretary Hobert noting prior communications. Councillors Afold Me Donald Baster Cawney and White Lock attended along with others.
Rev Wm Patterson of the Military YMCA has been appointed captain and chief officer for YMCA work among Canadian troops in Iberia. He formerly led Kent Presbyterian Church at Craik Sask before joining the Military YMCA. His son Thomas B Patterson trains with the Royal Air Force in England. Mrs Patterson and another son will live in Omeden.
