Fragments show a local notice from Canora Saskatchewan about a sale or rest with a broken reference to an address or name. The readable portion includes NW 84-38-28 and a partial name Demaldsos.
Five British merchant vessels, including the steamers Ben Cruachen Linda Blanche and Kilcoan, were sunk or torpedoed by the German submarine U21 near Liverpool and Havre. Kilcoan crew landed on the Isle of Man. U21’s appearance shocks shipping circles following similar wrecks off the French and Belgian coasts.
The council, under Deputy Mayor Easter in Mayor Hutcheon’s absence, held a light meeting. Discussions focused on power plant operation hours and procurement. A proposed 4 o'clock start and morning stop were debated to aid household electrical use planning. A special meeting for financial statements is expected, with 1915 estimates to be prepared.
