Weather notes on cool week with rain and livestock fields

The past week brought cool days with a high near 27 and a low around that level. Rain fell on four days totaling about 0.41 inches, mostly in two showers. The moss and pastures benefited livestock. we still await monsoon rains.

Inter- City Gas told the Dauphin town council that construction will not begin until spring due to regulatory delays. The company outlined progress including completed franchise agreements, bond financing plans, tendering, materials orders, right of way and easement deals, river crossing approval, and filed utility board preparations.

Arbitration awards set salary schedules for area schools

The Dauphin-Ochre Area school board and Manitoba Teachers' Society District 33 received arbitration board decisions last week. The award keeps dual elementary and secondary salary schedules for one year from Sept 1 1964 with a Jan 15 termination notice. Judge F W Newman chaired the panel. minority report by G H Nicholls faulted the separate schedules for degree teachers at elementary level.

Stronger Prices at Second Ste. Rose Feeder Sale Oct 1

The Ste. Rose and District Cattlemen's association hosted 953 cattle at the second feeder sale. Prices edged higher than the first sale with a top $23.70 for 400 pound calves from W. Fillion. Notable buyers included Frank K. Jaques, Abe Wener, and Bob McClement. The sale grossed over $105,000 with a full house and the next sale slated for Thursday Oct 1.

Double anniversaries at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Oct 7

St Paul’s Anglican Church in Dauphin will mark a double anniversary on Wednesday October 7 at 6 pm celebrating 75 years since the first Anglican services in the Dauphin area and 50 years since the present church’s completion on January 25 1914. The service will be led by Right Rev L A Norris with clergy Rev T W Wilkinson Rev A J Middleditch Rev David Robinson and Rev J F Moorhead directing. A reception follows in the church hall with local dignitaries and ministerial colleagues invited.
