Dauphin Woman Wounded

The RCM Police report Rose Lee, 34, widow, was shot Sunday September 26 in Dauphin. She was struck in the head by an unknown assailant, taken to hospital and expected to be released by midweek. Police continue the investigation.

Giant Liono at DMCC This Friday October 1

At the veterans reunion in Dauphin County armouries on Saturday September 25 about 30 people attended. The Cen tennial project aims to publish a Golden Book listing Canadian veterans of Ukrainian descent who served in World War I II and Korea. Nicholas A. Weather Woes Bring Frost and Low Sunlight

The past week brought four rainy days totaling .10 inches and a record low on the 25th, with the cool reaching a new low for the date since 1926. Frost on the 25th and 26th killed many plants, ending garden work nationwide as warnings of poor sunshine persist.

Nomination Day Set for Civic Elections Next Wednesday

Nomination day for the 1966-67 civic elections is scheduled for next Wednesday October 6. The Dauphin town council seats include mayoral post, four councillors, and two-year terms for several incumbents. Dauphin Ochre Area board also lists three two-year seats and one one-year term to fill a vacancy. Dauphin Local School Board No 905 has two trustee seats for the town division currently held by Mrs June Barber and Roy Caruk.

Dauphin Stages Two Performances of Confederation Pageant

The Dauphin Centennial committee will present the Fathers of Confederation Re-enactment twice on Tuesday Oct 5. The public afternoon show for DCTI students and an evening performance for neighboring high school students are planned. Adult tickets are at Lockhart & Lillie Agencies 15 Second Avenue NW with a reception in Legion hall after the show. Touring actors dine with Rotary and Lions clubs during their stay. The drama titled The Dream was written for the Centennial Commission by Tommy Tweed of Toronto.

Hon. Arthur Laing minister of northern affairs will headline the Dauphin Federal Liberal association nominating convention at Eleventh Avenue hall on Wednesday at 8 pm. Federal loan approved for Ochre River sewage project

A federal loan of 15 367 dollars was approved for Ochre River to support a sewage treatment project under the National Housing Act. The 20 year loan at 5 percent funds a lift station, 1 700 feet of four inch forcemain and a sewage lagoon, with possible partial loan forgiveness by CMHC before March 31, 1967.
