Budget To Seek Eight Thousand For Federated Drives

The executive decided on an eight thousand dollar objective for the Federated budget with allocations 124 percent or one thousand to Fugee Fund, 5 percent or four hundred to LOD E, and an emergency fund of eighteen percent or one thousand four hundred. If short, funds split by the stated percentages. if over, extra amounts go to each society plus central board decisions. Discussion on including the YMCA was dropped. possible donation from the emergency fund if the YMCA operates locally. A hut for RCAF students may be organized by a town club. Salvation Army pledged to set up a hut if needed. An executive meeting is set for Friday at 8 p.m. in Town hall. Robt. Fagen secretary, F. T. Wright chair.

Ten Buildings Rise At Service Flying School

Construction of the service flying training school progresses with new trestles and a large asphalt plant. Cranes from Moose Jaw will lift trestles into place within a week as 300 men work on site. Gravel supplied from Prentice pits by Monarch Construction and screening by A. N. Duff accelerate the east field work.

Fr. Roborecki Honored At Ukrainian Church Farewell

A farewell supper at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic hall honored Rev. Father Roborecki who leaves Dauphin after six years as parish priest. Parish names and honors cited, church built under his direction opened in 1938. He departs for the east. successors Fr. Syrnyk and Fr. Firman noted.

Notices Sent to 21 Year Olds for Medical Examinations

National registration shows 336 Dauphin constituency residents in the 21 age class with 200 already notified to undergo medical examinations for the first period of training. The government will pay examination costs, and those deemed fit must report within three days of a second notice for training. Appeals for postponement are heard by the draft board at Winnipeg division headquarters.

Ukrainian Archbishop to Visit Dauphin Sunday

Archbishop Taodorowich of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church will visit St. Dauphin Ukrainian Church next Sunday September 29. He will lead a 10 o'clock morning service and the parish will host a reception at the Ukrainian People's Home afterward.

Elks Award War Savings Stamps in Weekly Bingo

The Elks have given away 375.25 in war savings stamps over six Saturdays. A single stamp is added to the pot each game and the winner on the 13th called number takes the jackpot, now at 8.75. Profits go to a patriotic trust fund for future war work, with plans to continue the games indoors in winter if needed.

S S R Regiment Visits Dauphin

The South Saskatchewan Regiment 6th Infantry Brigade with five companies totaling about 800 men bivouacked in Dauphin. Lieut Col J E Wright led drills from Shilo with Major D C Orme commanding the headquarters company arriving from Portage la Prairie. Companies came from Virden Clear Lake Killarney and Deloraine. The Legion arranged entertainment and a free movie for the troops. Local citizens and school staff watched drill at the fair grounds with fixed bayonets in part of the display.

Sister of Dauphin Woman Killed in German Raid

Mrs. W. H. Rampton of Dauphin learned this week that her sister Miss M. Vincent had been killed in a German air raid on Beckenham Kent about three weeks ago. A small boy was saved from death when pushed under the stairs of the house. The other two residents, a man and his wife, were killed with Miss Vincent.

Edward Roussin Charged With Attempted Murder

Edward Roussin faced a magistrate in Dauphin police court on an attempted murder charge after a Monday night shooting at the Maguet farm near Laurier. The wounded man, Maguet, was in Ste. Rose hospital improving but not out of danger, receiving blood transfusions. Police nabbed Roussin on a country road after an all night hunt as details of the farm quarrel and intoxication reports emerged.
