Weir Entertained by Agricultural Society Directors

Hon. Robert Weir, minister of agriculture, addressed about fifty directors and officials including W. D. Strang and Mayor D. D. McDonald. They praised federal support during hard times and remembered Dr. J. R. Gunne while discussing a regional fair shift toward home grown and district bred prizes.

Inter-Collegiate Field Meet Set for Dauphin Saturday Afternoon

The sixth Inter-collegiate field and track meet will be held in Dauphin for the first time on Saturday September 28. Entries come from Yorkton Collegiate Yorkton Public Schools St Josephs College Yorkton and Melville Collegiate. Dauphin Rotary donated the silver championship cup as the top prize with other cups from the Yorkton Lions Club the Yorkton Commercial Travellers and four Dauphin Collegiate Institute cups. Mayor D D McDonald will open the meet and J N McFanden will present ribbons at the conclusion. The event begins at 12 o clock noon at the exhibition grounds.

Dauphin Young Men's Conservative Club Formed

About fifty young men from Dauphin and district gathered in the Conservative committee rooms to organize the Dauphin Young Men's Conservative Club. Officers were elected with patrons Rt. Hon. R. B. Bennett and Hon. James L. Bowman. president Jack Ball. vice president Gerald Bird. secretary Francis Lecrase.

Town Council Meeting Seeks Street Light and Maple Street Gravel Work

Regular council session on September 19 with Mayor McDonald and six councillors. Roy Rutledge discussed Maple Street street light and extending the gravel walk westward. requests referred to Utilities Superintendent. Communications included gravel redelivery, Palmer suite parent, scholarship fund, and debenture by law read third time. Solomon spoke on finance.

Fork River Woman Shot by Child Ends in Tragedy

Mrs. Felix Borowski aged 28 was killed at her Fork River area farm when an eight year old son discharged a 22 calibre rifle. The incident occurred at night with only the children present. Husband and neighbor learned of the death. she was born Caroline Dyrkacz in Winnipegosis and leaves a husband three children and her extended family.

Dates Set for Dauphin First Hobby Show October 10-11

Dauphin announces its first hobby show to be held in the town hall on Friday and Saturday October 10 and 11. The event, sponsored by the Local Council of Women, runs from 2 pm to 10 pm Friday and 10 am to 10 pm Saturday, with exhibits including furniture, models, needlework, crafts, and collections. Exhibitors must prepare and sign entries, with a 16 cent admission to cover expenses.

Twelve Records Fall At Dauphin Collegiate Field Day

Twelve records were broken as Dauphin Collegiate Institute held its annual field day on Friday. Grade XI led the interclass events with 211 points, while individual winners included Stan Bladen, Etoile Geiger, Roy Bullock, and Mary Slobodzian, among others. Track events dominated the morning with interclass games in the afternoon.
