Rotary Charity Fun Carnival a Huge Dauphin Success

The Dauphin Rotary Club concluded its fourth charity carnival as a three day event with heavy turnout from locals and air force personnel. Rain did not dampen attendance and gross receipts rose about 85 percent over last year, likely surpassing a thousand dollars net for the charity fund.

Dauphin Power Plant Sets New Daily Output Record

The Dauphin power plant posted a history high of 12 100 kilowatts on Saturday as cloud cover boosted usage. Demand will rise further with heating for air stations and hangars, while hydro line construction to Minnedosa and Dauphin faces delays due to pole shortages. Three work crews operate along the Minnedosa to Neepawa route heading toward the air stations and western towns.

Judge Simpson Named Acting Judge in Dauphin District

Judge F E Simpson of Minnedosa is appointed acting judge of the Dauphin Judicial district to fill the vacancy from Judge Bonnycastle's resignation and pending provincial appointments. He will continue to preside at Minnedosa and Dauphin until further notice.

Half-Holiday By-law Goes Into Effect

The Thursday half holiday by law goes into effect this afternoon. Businesses are to observe the weekly half holiday when no other statutory or civic holiday falls in the week. The post office will close wickets at 12 noon on Thursdays.

Wheat board caps deliveries at eight bushels per acre, with a 12 bushel quota not opening for deliveries until month end. Salvage Depot At Curling Rink Opens Monday

Dauphin Salvage association opens its central depot at the local curling rink Monday September 29 with 3 to 5 p.m. hours. Geo Dowler and A Rusconi chair the depot committee and A H Marcon will supervise with R Nelson as general manager. Pickups by phone 102 and rotating local organization duties begin.
