Fun Carnival Enjoys Record Popularity

Veterans news notes on Canadian troops in World War II
Several Manitoba based service members are listed with their wartime service details. Pte Crawford served in Sicily and Italy before transferring to infantry. Pte Victor Ferris was killed in France August 14 1944 after a career in engineers and artillery. Pte Pshebnicky wounded in France August 28 while serving with Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Pte Allan Beaton was wounded, leg amputated, after serving since 1940 with PPL I. Staff Sgt James A Playford wounded September 2 after earlier service with RWA and paratroopers.
Dauphin Soldier Dies of Wounds in France
Pte. Michael Senchuk son of Mr and Mrs D Senchuk of Dauphin Manitoba died of wounds in France on August 13 an official word to his wife in Kentville Nova Scotia. Born 1920 Arran Saskatchewan he moved with his parents to Dauphin in 1927 married Rosena Payne Kentville April 10 1944. He enlisted with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in June 1942 and went overseas in June this year later joined Essex Scottish regiment. He is survived by his parents a brother Pete overseas for three years and three sisters Mrs G Bradowaski Dauphin and Jean and Victoria at home.

Windsor duo injured when car overturns on No 5 highway
Two people from Windsor Ontario were hospitalized after a vehicle left the road about two and a half miles west of town and rolled into a ditch. In the accident on No 5 highway Mike Wonsul suffered a head laceration while Mrs Nick Yakinchuk sustained severe shaking.

J H Young, station agent at Dauphin for six years, departed for Vancouver as coast assignment. John A Shields named successor. he joined CNR in 1910 and comes from Redditt Ontario where he led as station agent since 1929. Shields arrives with his wife. they have a daughter in Fort William and a son, a prisoner of war in Germany since October 1943.
