Presbytery of Dauphin Elects New Moderator at Session

The Presbytery of Dauphin met at 10 a m on Tuesday with nearly all members present Rev J A Comrie elected moderator succeeding Rev J W McKillop of Kenville The routine business filled the agenda two visitors drew interest Rev David Flemming spoke on missions from the Synod budget committee and Dr Murray Home Missionary superintendent led Home Mission field administration within the presbytery

Local court fines for possessing prohibited hay ing material

Magistrates Hawkins and Orr presided as several defendants faced charges of hay ing in possession of books pamphlets and publications prohibited by order in council. Those found guilty were fined 850 and costs or six months hard labor. A list of named defendants received costs only. A number of foreigners were fined for failing to carry proof of military service exemption.

Mr Wm Whiteman and Miss Ada Bull were united in marriage at Winnipeg on Sept 13 by Rev R S Laidlaw of Knox Church. The bride was attended by Mrs J Jacksin and the groom by Mr M R Lewis of Kamloops BC. They will reside at 105 Fourth Ave S W Dauphin after a short honeymoon.

Dauphin Red Cross Annual Meeting Set in Town Hall

The Dauphin Red Cross society will meet in the town hall on Monday September 23 at 8 o'clock to organize under Manitoba Red Cross convention rules. Members who have subscribed are entitled to vote.

Woman fined for sedition and theatre ads noted

Silvie Clays of Ste Amelie was found guilty of using seditious language, fined 25 dollars plus costs totaling 57.35 dollars or one month in jail, and paid the fine. Also noted is Douglas Fairbanks in Reaching for the Moon at Star theatre on September 25 and 26 with 15 and 25 cent admissions.
