Rink Turned Into Amusement Centre By Rotary Club

The Dauphin Rotary Club hosts a charity fun carnival turning the rink into a game-filled amusement venue. Rotarians promise 26 popular games including dart boards and a Kentucky Derby electric horse race plus new acts from Winnipeg. Adults and children welcome with food and drinks available.

Dauphin Federated War Fund to Elect Officers Sept 24

The Dauphin Federated War Fund Association will hold its annual meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday Sept 24 at 8 p.m. Officers for the coming year will be elected and plans made for the 1942 war fund campaign. All Dauphin citizens and rural municipality residents are invited to attend.

Sixteen Public School Teachers To Receive Bonus

The school board decided to grant a $50 bonus to 16 teachers earning $1000 or less for the year ending June 30 1942. Two married teachers receive an extra $50 each, totaling $900 in bonuses with $360 paid by the end of the current fiscal year.

Hugh Bancroft To Be Heard In Organ Recital Monday

The United church installs a Casavant pipe organ replacing a 13 year old reed organ. Eminent organist H. Hugh Bancroft of Winnipeg will perform Monday evening with Mrs. C N Dahlgren and Mrs. R P Eastman assisting. Program includes works by Guilmant Schubert Widor Bach Saint Saens and Smart.

Children’s Aid Names New Field Worker Miss Tannis Cates

Miss Tannis Cates of Reston Manitoba is appointed assistant probation officer and children’s aid worker for the Dauphin branch. She holds a BA from Manitoba University and a Master’s in Psychology from Toronto, with extensive postgraduate work in child psychology and related fields. She begins duties in Dauphin within two weeks.

Board Approves Air Cadet Plan for Dauphin Collegiate

The Dauphin Collegiate School board authorized forming an air cadet unit with ministerial approval. Alex Katz, chair of the local air cadet committee, outlined enrollment of 50 to 100 cadets ages 15 to 18 and noted flights planned in Winnipeg Dauphin Neepawa with other locations pending.

Dauphin District Salvage Association Formed Friday

The Dauphin District Salvage Association formed at Legion hall aims to lead a district wide anti waste drive. Ed W Hawkins presides with A H Marcon as vice president and Robi Fagen as secretary treasurer. An executive committee includes Mrs A T Warnock and others. Over fifty delegates attended to set up the central executive and discuss immediate salvage action and marketing through dealers.
