Women on school boards held in regard to child welfare

The Woman's Institute met in the Hest Room with Mrs. McCaul presiding. Miss Street read on infant care while Mrs. McIntyre urged mixed boards for schools, arguing mothers aid schooling and that women fit for guiding youth though balance with men is needed.

Public meeting in Dauphin September 29 announced

Mr F J Dixon MLA will address a public meeting in Dauphin on September 29. The Free Press reports Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta crop estimates Wheat 250 million bushels oats 350 million barleys 47 million. Open geese season Sept 15 to Dec 1 limit 10 per day. Ducks Sept 15 to Dec 1 limit 20 up to Oct 1 then 40. Prairie chicken partridge and grouse Oct 15 to Oct 22 limited season amount announced with Lieut Governor proclamation. Alexandra Rebekah Lodge marks 69th Rebekah degree Friday night Sept 24 Progressives 500 830 PM.

Old-Timers Dance Planned by Rebekah Lodge at Town Hall

An Old-Timers dance will be held in the town hall under the Rebekah lodge on Friday September 17. Refreshments will be served. Mc Murray orchestra provides music. Admission is 75 cents. Vaudeville at Gay on Monday and Tuesday.

Despondent Woman Cuts Throat in Dauphin Plains

Mrs. George of Dauphin Plains slashed her throat with a razor in a despondent moment. She was rushed to hospital and is expected to recover. Hon. Mackenzie King plans a speaking tour in Dauphin during the first week of November, with Dauphin among five stops in the province.

Induction of Rev Philip Duncan at Presbyterian Church

The induction of Rev Philip Duncan into the pastorsht at the Presbyterian church will take place on Thursday the 16th. Dr John Neil of Toronto will assist. In OCHRE RIVER Jas Rutley, a pioneer settler, died Monday the 13th, leaving a widow and grown children.

A Rural Credits branch will open in Dauphin soon as negotiations for a building proceed. Superintendent E. A. Weir spent several days in town last week handling the matter.

Registration Deadline For Nonlisted Voters

Nonlisted voters must register by Saturday the 18th. Edward Batty serves as registration clerk at the town hall with office hours from 9 a m to 6 p m. The provincial voters list will be used to conduct the Referendum vote.

Curling club sought for rink progress data

A Herald correspondent asks for details on the proposed rink and public interest. The paper cannot provide the information but suggests curling club members may offer data on progress. Duck hunters are active, with many town sports ranging to Roblin district and lakes Winnipegosis and Dauphin. birds are numerous but wary.
