Town Council Adopts Relief Dispensing System

The Dauphin Town Council approves a provincial plan to standardize relief administration. A new committee will supervise registrations from Sept 15 to 7 10 pm with standard forms and ID cards. An examining panel will approve or reject recommendations and review doubtful cases.

Elks Ltd Ordered to Pay Rent or Face Legal Action

Councillor Solomon raised the issue of unpaid link rent from Elks Ltd. The council concluded the company failed to fulfill its obligation and gave five days to pay $712.39 for the Kink rent. If unpaid, the matter will be referred to a solicitor for collection.

Vegetables Needed for Drought-Stricken Manitoba

In response to a request from the Was k ada Agricultural Society the Dauphin Agricultural Society seeks a carload of vegetables to send to southwestern Manitoba where crops have failed due to grasshoppers and drought. Anyone with surplus vegetables or donations should contact Dr. O McGuirk secretary or the Herald Office.

Car and Truck Collision Near Broken Pipe Lake

J J Crowe of Dauphin and Father J Brachet of Camperville collided on No 6 highway five miles north of Broken Pipe Lake at about 930 pm last Wednesday. Crowe's car was badly damaged but Crowe and his wife and Mrs Bowman were bruised only. Brachet and his pupil group escaped injury.

Ochre River Farmer Injured in Wagon Runaway Incident

John Forget a 60 year old bachelor from six miles from Ochre River suffered severe injuries when his horses bolted. He was thrown from the wagon and possibly run over. Found near Makinak he was taken to the Nursing Home in Ochre River. Multiple right rib fractures and possible lung puncture left him in critical condition.

Provincial Parks Highway Organization Elect Officers

Representatives from Portage la Prairie Neepawa Roblin and intervening points met in Dauphin to organize Manitoba unit of the National Parks Highway Association. Officers elected include A H F Stelck Dauphin chairman and vice president of the central executive at Yorkton. The group aims to promote a northern scenic highway from Winnipeg to Vancouver via Riding Mountain Prince Albert Wainwright and Jasper National Parks.
