New boilers at Major Hall progress, while a reception for Jim Ball was slated. The school board plans adding a teacher to allow Latin and French in upper grades and to address non resident pupil attendance.

Death of Miss Jean Rutherford Ford in Dauphin
Miss Jean Rutherford, 80, died September 11 at her sister Mrs. W A Walker’s home on Gladys Street Dauphin after a nursing career of 38 years with J T McMillan in Detroit. She leaves four sisters in Dauphin Vancouver Kansas City and Ontario. Funeral set for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the residence. Wings at the Dauphin Theatre was a noted wartime drama with a human, dramatic impact.

A Dauphin meeting formed the Northwestern Manitoba Game Protective League to protect birds and animals. Officers include President J L Bowman and Secretary Treasurer P Mulligan. Plans include local chapters, a crow suppression campaign, and a $1 annual membership to support game preservation efforts and a bird sanctuary policy.

Painful Rural Accident Tod Bowsman Area
Six miles north of Bowsman on Saturday morning Edgar Johnston son of Tab Johnston previously of Dauphin suffered a severe mower accident. While clearing a clogged cutting bar his foot was caught in the knife cutting the instep about three inches deep. He was taken to Swan River hospital where Drs Bruce and Cameron treated severed cords and badly lacerated muscles. Recovery will take several weeks before use of his foot resumes.

Frank McEwen Sustains Injuries After Barn Fall at Grandview
Frank McEwen slipped while descending from a barn loft on L Wheeler’s Grandview farm. He has a left arm lost in a prior mill accident, broke his right thumb, two ribs, and remains under care after transfer from Dr Shortreed's hospital to Dauphin General.

Mrs Thomas R Baylis aged 64? 181 years and 6 months died at Dauphin General Hospital on Monday September 10. She was born February 15 1847 in Coleshill England and emigrated to Canada in 1882 first to Belleville Ontario then Manitoba in 1900 settling in Dauphin district. Survived by four sons and two daughters. funeral Thursday at 2 30 in St Pauls Anglican with Canon A E Cousins officiating and burial at Riverside cemetery.
