Five Councillors Resign in Dauphin Town Council

Five councillors A A Brewer A Bennett T J Clark W D King and A H Lepper resigned at a Dauphin town council meeting claiming equal responsibility with Hoy who faced penalties for a prior offence. Brewer criticized provincial amendments while noting he served seven years. other resignations followed amid debates on by elections and town governance.

Hitchin Plans to Transmit Power from Dauphin to Towns

Gilbert Plains council met with Mayor Robson and secretary treasurer Robt Fagen to discuss delays by the provincial power commission in linking Dauphin to Gilbert Plains and Grandview. Officials claim the hold up stems from unclear pricing and lack of action by Grandview, with Dauphin contesting the commission’s rejections and price concerns.

Concert and Dance at Town Hall by Hospital Aid Society

Dauphin rink to kick off season with masques at town hall

Elks' Limited raise funds for the third season of Dauphin skating at a social grand opening masquerade on Friday Oct 4 1929 in the town hall. Prizes will honor costumes with special features. Tuberculosis Clinic Examines 210 Cases in Dauphin Tour

Special doctors from Ninette conducted the Dauphin Medical Clinic on Sept 5 and 6, testing 210 people with X rays aiding diagnosis. Ex-patients, suspects, and those with family risk gathered from Dauphin town and rural areas. The team included Dr. D. Scott, Dr. M. Sigvaldson, Dr. Medway, two X-ray techs, and public health TB staff. The Dauphin session was the largest of the province tour, with follow up at Ethelbert and Swan River.

Tennis Club Hosts Visitors From Grandview and Gilbert Plains

The local tennis club entertained visitors from Grandview and Gilbert Plains at a corn-bell on the local courts. Guests included Rey and Mrs Wat Son and Mr and Mrs Woodard, the Camerons, and Mr Webb. The event drew many members and ended with tennis and refreshments as warm weather returned. Luke Pokropinwny of Dauphin overturned his car after a horse appeared on the grade south of town. The 1929 model was badly damaged but no serious injuries were reported.

Death of David Kelso in Dauphin General Hospital

David Kelso age 53 of Robin died at Dauphin General Hospital after a car accident near a gravel pit. The butcher was injured while en route to kill cattle when the wall of a gravel pit cave in and overturned the car. Kelso was treated by Dr. Drach of Roblin and transported to the hospital where he died. The body was sent to Roblin for burial.

Decoration Day Service Honours Dauphin War Dead

A Sunday Decoration Day service at the war memorial drew a large Dauphin town and district gathering. Capt. Johnson led the Salvation Army service with the Dauphin Boys' Band in hymns, prayers, and readings. Wreaths were placed by the town, rural municipality, and several societies including Daughters of England and LODE chapters.

Municipalities Press Protest Over 1929 Levy Increase

Twenty municipalities attended the conference with Premier Fracken and cabinet members as a formal protest was lodged against 1929 increases in the municipal commissioner's levy Brandor. St Boniface and Winnipeg were among those asking for relief.
