Dauphin Rotary club installs large blue and white reading boxes on street corners to collect books and magazines for air school No. 7 and No. 10. Boxes survived rain and are ready to receive material as locals contribute. Sergeant Observer James P. McKay RCAF, missing since Sept. 2 after air operations over Europe, grew up in Dauphin and taught at Provencher and the local Collegiate Institute before enlisting in 1940. He served with British bombing raids over France and Germany. born in Winnipeg, he has several siblings and is survived by his parents in St. Boniface.

The Dominion Government proclaims September 10 to 17 as a week of reconsecration. A service will be held September 16 at 3 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium. The mayor declares September 16 a Civic Holiday from 2 45 to 4 p.m. to allow all citizens to attend.

Airmen Hurt in No 10 Highway Hit and Run
A car traveling south on No 10 highway struck two airmen from No 10 S F T S as they walked along the road. The driver fled the scene. Both men sustained cuts and bruises. Police report the hit and run is under investigation by R C M police.

Fire Chiefs Elect Leaders at Dominion Association Convention

Collision damages two cars on Saturday
A collision between two out of town cars Saturday evening damaged both vehicles but caused no injuries. Drivers were Roy French of Fort William Ontario and Stanley Kruk of Sifton district. Kruk had just turned the corner by the courthouse when the crash occurred. Repairs cost 18 dollars for French and 20 dollars for Kruk.
