Commemoration Planned for Lt Col Barker by Fairchild Canada
The Fairchild Aircraft Corporation of Canada announces a memorial flag pole at the Montreal Licht Airplane Club grounds in honor of Lt Col W G Barker vice-president of the company. Barker, a Great War ace, died in a training plane crash at the Ottawa airport last March after serving with the Canadian forces and earning the Victoria Cross, the Distinguished Service Order, and the Military Cross.

Reconstruction plan for Dauphin pole line costs 4500 dollars
Dauphin council heard a report from engineers Sullivan Kipp and Chace outlining a complete new pole line and equipment for 4500 dollars to be installed over several years. The plan includes rewinding motors to suit a new phase and possible joint use of poles with Manitoba Telephone to save costs. The town has 14000 dollars already set aside for reconstruction. Present were Mayor Rotson and councillors Brewer Bennett Lepper and King. The council also learned no by law speed limit authority exists under the highways act and suggested seeking a standard provincial regulation rather than local rules. A fire, water and light committee motion authorized purchase of 250 feet of 24 inch hose for the brigade.

Dauphin School Board adds teacher for Grade IX classes
Amid high Grade IX registrations the Dauphin School Board hired Claire OConnor to join the collegiate staff for the term starting Sept 2. Three Grade IX classes are to be formed, totaling 111 pupils, with overall enrolment rising by about 40 to 246. The board also discussed disciplining disruptive collegiate students and approved reporting to parents with potential suspensions.
