The Herald reports a tight race as the second period of the campaign nears its end with vigorous efforts from candidates. Community pride drives rural districts and towns to back their representatives, while extra cash prizes incentivize new subscriptions and continued campaigning through September 1.
Reports from Whiskey Jack Fishing Station detail a fierce Wednesday gale on August 1st that battered boats and nets. John Bradbury and crew survived a sinking near Grenon’s Harbor while George Norman and a search party brought help after four hours of travel. Nets lost by many boats exceed 1000 dollars. Fox Bay crews fared better with no net losses.
On Saturday September 10 Dauphin Rangers clash with Irish Juniors in the Manitoba Junior Football playoff final at Carruthers Park. Kickoff is five o clock with Mayor Webb to officiate. The Dauphin School Board passed a resolution urging Grade XII to be taken over two years, with a $50 yearly fee for the two year option and $11 full or $16 per subject for the standard course. The plan aims to ease immaturity and improve results amid rising exam difficulty.

On Labor Day Mayor Robson and Councillors Solomon Rawson Puchalski and Robin Fagen visited Edwards Lake to inspect the town water. The trip featured a rough wagon ride, detours through a bush, a peak view, a seven mile return, and an eventual verdict that the water supply was satisfactory. The day ended with the release of a chased rabbit after light mischief.
A car rollover seven miles west of Dauphin injured four generations from Portage la Prairie. Great grandmother Mrs Phoebe Burton remained unconscious with concussion after the No 5 highway crash on Monday while Mrs P Arrell, her daughter in law, and the three year old grandson suffered bruises and cuts. Dr Potoski treated the injured at Dauphin General Hospital.
At the September 1 meeting Dauphin council accepted the Canadian Westinghouse Co tender for a new switchboard and panels at the electric plant for 3950 dollars and began work immediately. Several property sales were approved including Lot 6 Block 1 Plan 357 to M S Astwood and Mrs Astwood for 25 dollars and Lot 10 Block 6 Plan 242 to M R Harkness for 50 dollars. A restaurant license for City Candy Kitchen was granted and care for the Warner children set at 35 dollars monthly.
