Results of Grade XI June Examinations Dauphin Collegiate

A department of education report on the Dauphin Collegiate Grade XI June exams shows 81.5 percent passes from 76 papers out of 411 by 54 students. Sheep shipments under Manitoba loan scheme to Dauphin area

Shipments of sheep under the Manitoba Livestock Credit Co scheme will arrive around September 24. Nineteen farmers in the Dauphin district will share about 300 sheep sourced from Montana, part of a 3600 head intake funded by Manitoba business leaders to boost local sheep production.

Child Hit by Car Injures Face and Head in Saturday Incident

Evelyn Clark, 5, was struck while crossing toward home as George King, an eyewitness, found her with help. The driver left the scene after stopping briefly, but later faced mild censure for fleeing. Dr Dicks treated the girl who is recovering well. A Lake Road farm house burned at 5 am Thursday, destroying the building and contents. Kostick saved eight nearby children. Insurance covers the loss. Jas Malcolm, the owner, is a Canadian immigration official from Glasgow.

Farm town stunt nearly flips car on highway

Jack Haddrell drove a De Soto near three miles from town when a horse shoe nail and a shingle nail caused the car to leave the road. The vehicle flipped into a ditch, tires blew, fenders bent, and the top broke with five passengers inside. Everyone escaped with only minor bruises.

Dauphin Pioneer Archibald McLellan Dies in Winnipeg

Archibald McLellan a district pioneer died Sunday at his daughter Mrs Scott 378 Macyland Street Winnipeg aged ninety years. A Nova Scotia native he farmed in Dauphin for thirty years then retired for residence with his daughter. Wife predeceased him and he leaves three sons. Body sent from Barker funeral home to Dauphin for burial in Riverside cemetery after service at St Viator's Church.

Fire Suppression Efforts Halting Large Rural Blaze

On Monday night a major fire in the Riding Mountain reserve ten miles southwest of Ochre River was brought under control by Forestry Supervisor F. J. Smith his staff and a hundred-strong crew. Firefighting used backfiring and guards to seal the area and prevent further timber loss as steady rain aided the effort.

Dauphin Bus Franchise Lets Clark Run Winnipeg Route

Thomas Clark of Clark Motor Co has secured Manitoba government franchise to operate a motor bus service from Dauphin to Winnipeg. He bought a 21 seat bus for a 212 mile daily trip in about seven hours. The note also mentions local housing demand and town prosperity.

Councillor Hoy Resigns Over Misuse of Town Funds

Following charges that he accepted sums of 11.15 and 7.7 for town work in Dauphin Councillor A A Hoy resigns with immediate effect. The town council believes others may share culpability for approving the work and payments and expects possible further resignations.

Dauphin Woman Mrs Gardner Passes Away

Mrs. Jas Gardner widow of the late Jas Gardner died Wednesday afternoon Sept 4 in Dauphin. Born in Almonte Ontario she moved with her family to Dauphin two years ago and lived a quiet retired life. Survived by son Russell of Dauphin daughter Mrs A V Clyde of Saskatoon Kamisk Sask sister Mrs D Sutherland of McGregor Man and two brothers in the United States. Funeral arrangements not announced.
