Fire destroys McDonald farm barn at Gartmere

Fire early Sunday morning consumed the barn on Chas N McDonald’s Gartmere farm. No live stock was harmed, but harness and contents burned. The barn, built last summer for about $6000, carried $2500 insurance on the building and $1.49 on contents. origin remains a mystery.

Boys and Girls Club Notes Promote Fair on October 3

School reopenings spark plans for the Boys and Girls fair to be held Friday October 3 with threshing over early this year. Exhibitors urged to follow rules and prepare records and entry forms. Poultry and livestock sections emphasized with a goal of a strong show and Canadian Bank of Commerce prize qualification. Arrangements for refreshments and an afternoon sports program are planned.

Threshing Gang Member Injured in Fall

During threshing operations Adolph Gallant of McEwen and McCorvie gang fell and sustained severe back injuries. He was taken to the city for examination as threshing should end soon in the district.

Dwelling Fire Destroys Lis Towal Home In Gale

Norman Beyette’s house at Lis Towal burned in a Monday gale. The blaze destroyed the structure and its contents. Mrs Beyette and her Secone daughter escaped from their beds through the flames.

Presbytery of Dauphin Holds Fall Meeting in Local Church

The Presbytery of Dauphin met in a Presbyterian church for its fall session. Rev. A. Cormie opened the meeting, Rev. G. Tyinebuk was elected chair, and routine business included Home Missions and the Perwane Movement reports. The Vorward Movement offering of 12000 was distributed to congregations and missions. Rev. G. M. Philips resigned from Minitonas, taking a Belmont call which he declined. A joint meeting with the Methodist Dauphin District was proposed, with dates to be set by Rev. J. A. Cormie and Mr. Haw.

Rebekah Farewell for Two Sisters Before Westward Move

The home of Mr and Mrs Lowes on 4th Ave NE hosted a Rebekah gathering to bid farewell to two sisters departing for the west. Guests shared in social time and lunch. Gifts included a silver thimble and a gold pin, symbolizing lodge work and enduring friendship. Mrs McKee moves to Calgary, Mrs Thompson to Saskatoon.
