New Rural Teacherages Built In Regional Workshop

Operation TEACHERAGE sees twelve by twenty four foot teacherages moved to new rural sites. Built in the Composite High workshop, these insulated 12 x 24 units feature kitchenette living spaces, built in stoves and cupboards, Jasper brick exteriors, green roofs, radio aerials, and wiring for electricity. Construction began late July and took about a month with transport by truck.

Voters List Revision Brings New Ward To School Area

With six weeks to nomination day for municipal elections the Dauphin school area revises its electors list to create a seventh ward incorporating rural Dauphin consolidated district. The area board expands by one seat with M F Szewczyk announcing vacancies in Wards 1 2 3 4 and town. residents in four wards will elect the new member for a two year term.

Bateman Elected President Of Dauphin Ten Pin League

Bert Bateman was elected president of the Dauphin commercial ten pin bowling league at the organizational meeting last week. Andy Newton was named vice president Denny Kells treasurer and Johnny Kay secretary. The league will again operate with eight teams and the season opens Sept 17. The ladies five pin league will organize for the coming season at a general meeting to be held this Thursday in the town hall.

Mrs Arubise Suffers Burns in Canning Accident

Mrs Henry Arubise received first degree burns to hands and left arm in a home canning mishap Tuesday afternoon. She was alone when the kettle upset and she slipped, and her husband took her to Dauphin General Hospital where her condition was reported as fairly good Wednesday morning.

New Van Route Links North Town Students

A new school van service began Wednesday with the rail term opening. The area board arranged a ten mile north route along the Winnipegosis road to bring high school students living north of town to school, serving more than 10 pupils.

Retiring Dauphin Tailor Moves to Ottawa After 31 Years

S Solomon veteran councilor and businessman of Dauphin will leave the town at the end of September to reside in Ottawa. He has run a tailoring business since 1917 and served 18 years on the town council. He is past master of the Masonic lodge and chairman of the public library board since 1938. His wife is active in local organizations and their three children hold positions in New Jersey and Ottawa. The Tip Top agency he held will transfer to the Peoples Store.

Town Contract for 13 Homes on Edgar Avenue

A contract signed with the town of Dauphin calls for 13 one family dwellings by January 1, 1950. Builders J L Allard and G C Dowler will develop on Edgar avenue in Lovering park with frontage of 50 feet each and one 64 foot corner lot. Homes valued at least 2500 dollars per town enpinder using materials from Paulson airport buildings.
