After ten days of district fires rainfall ended the blazes on Monday and Tuesday causing heavy damage in Ste Rose and Winnipeggsis regions. Farms lost buildings and effects. hay and crops burned. fatalities occurred near Valpoy with Arthur Lee Doty and his wife perishing on their farm.
A man named William Allan, in his early twenties, was found last dusk with severe head injuries at the backside of a stable two miles south of Minitonas. Police have a single boot print and disturbed ground as clues. a similar murder of a local woman last year is mentioned, with suspicions linked to a common suspect should Allan recover memory.
