Centennial Exchange brings Ontario students to Dauphin week
A week long centennial program in Dauphin hosts 24 Ontario youths with chaperones Mr and Mrs R A Hill August 19 to 25. Guests toured farms orchards and dairies including Forbes egg factory Guernsey Dairy Tokar turkey farm and Boughe n s Nursery. They visited McCallum s Museum the Garden Show of the Dauphin Horticultural Society and the Duck Mountain forest reserve. A banquet by the Dauphin council of women featured ethnic dishes and a CN film on transportation followed by a discussion. Rotarians hosted the students during the exchange week.

Dauphin Air Cadet Earns Pilot's License
Sergeant Wayne McGimpsey of the Lieut Col Barker VY C Air Cadet squadron earned a private pilot's license after a four week Brandon Flying School course. He received a proficiency scholarship at a June inspection ceremony and is the 17 year old son of Mr and Mrs Robert McGimpsey Sr. He will enter grade 12 at DCTI when school opens this week.

Dr. George Johnson names K. R. Jasper 51 of Steinbach as official trustee of the new Frontier School Division with headquarters at Dauphin and a central high school at Cranberry Portage. The division covers about two thirds of the province, serving 5000 pupils in 16 isolated districts and 27 settlements. The plan includes Frontier Collegiate Institute with bursaries and room and board, opening Sept 1 with about 200 students.
