First Snow of Season Hits Dauphin District
Ole Man Winter delivered the season’s first snow to the Dauphin district on Tuesday with over three inches measured at the airport 3.4 in. Winds from the north-northeast reached 20 mph and gusts to 88 mph with temperatures around 27.6 F the day and a high of 25.2 F. By Wednesday the sky cleared and streets froze creating treacherous conditions though no accidents were reported.

Fire Prevention Poster Contest Winners Named
Winners of the 1949 fire prevention poster contest for school children were announced Monday night after judging by four local men. Prizes will be awarded to seven pupils in grades 2 to 8 with five honorable mentions. Posters will be displayed this weekend in Eaton's store window. Georgia Reid won top prize in group A with the slogan Match Can Do It. Frances Huzy led group B with I'm Dangerous. Ronnie Rae topped group C with a poster of matches as danger.
