Boys and Girls Fair Sets Attendance Record at 1700

Rain dampened early morning but crowds packed the fair building all afternoon. Livestock lagged, poultry and garden displays impressed, with Reds led by Margaret Tucker and Whites by Alvin McQuay. Judges from Winnipeg and Dauphin lauded canning, school exhibits, and cooking displays as top to date.

Miss Jean Duncan to visit Dauphin for Baptist group meeting

Miss Jean Duncan leader of Girls' Work among Manitoba Baptists will visit Dauphin on Friday October 15. She will meet local Baptist groups and address a public meeting at 8 p.m. at the Baptist church. G.T. groups and leaders are invited and Miss Fraser will speak on the Kenora Leaders' camp from July.

School Board Plans Winter Standstill on New Building

At a Friday night meeting the school board discussed continuing the new school building project but, due to material shortages and other obstacles, decided to discontinue work until spring opening.

Grandview Amateurs Stage Safety First in Dauphin

The Grandview troupe presented Safety First before a bumper crowd on October 7. The performance impressed with strong acting despite no orchestra. Prof Mateff drew an ovation on violin and W J Blackhall and Miss Dougherty contributed notable numbers. The play helped the group raise 100 for funds amid a local financial crunch. Birth notices and a Kings Counsel appointment in Dauphin followed.

Presentation to Mrs Code Marks Woman's Hospital Aid Anniversary

Mrs Code receives a tribute before leaving for Vancouver from the Woman's Hospital Aid, marking the organization's twentieth anniversary. Mrs George Kine presents a five tier tea tray and reviews the group's history. Mr Code and Miss Cotter attend, and Mrs McKindry speaks on the aid’s work as members reflect on past presidents. The meeting includes a social hour and a formal chairing by Mrs N We.

Peoples Forum Invites Town to Sunday Evening Talk

The Peoples Forum promotes community betterment across moral social and educational goals. Inspector of Schools R M Stevenson will be the principal speaker next Sunday at 8 30 in the Star theatre inviting citizens of the town and surrounding area to attend.

President Hanna Visits Dauphin With Planned Upgrades

President D B Hanna of the Canadian National Railway rode through town by special train on Wednesday and met Mayor Malcolm during a brief stay. He indicated the company plans a series of improvements at Dauphin to be undertaken at an early date.

The notice lists shooting seasons: geese Sept 15 to Dec 1 with a 10 per day limit. ducks Sept 15 to Dec 1 with 20 per day until Oct 1 then 40. prairie chicken partridge and grouse Oct 15 to Oct 22 with a season limit of 25 birds. Proclamation by the Lieut Governor may adjust terms.
