A by law in Dauphin Rural Municipality limits building in the villages Sifton and Vailey Pulver, subdivisions, and within half a mile of the town. It sets a $2500 minimum building value and requires a building permit before construction or moving any building. Permits can be revoked for noncompliance or if work does not start within six months.

Eleven Dauphin Collegiate and Technical Institute student councillors observed a wide agenda at the town council meeting. The council approved a Jehovahs Witnesses convention at the town hall for January 13 to 15, 1950, with a $35 daily rate and no meals. It also funded $70 for the tuberculosis x ray survey publicity, discussed metal refuse container arrangements with Estevan and Weyburn, formed a skating rink site committee, joined the Manitoba Urban Association, closed a lane near Ross property with a power easement, and authorized cyclorama installation costs for the town hall auditorium.
Dauphin town council decries delays by Manitoba Power Commission in installing 11 ordered street lights dating from May through September. They seek two more lights for DMCC hall approaches and push for action on existing orders, including Memorial boulevard.
Ernest Newburn McGirr is elected M L A for Dauphin as a Progressive Conservative coalition member. Born 1887 in Emerson Manitoba, he practiced law since 1914 and aims to build a top road from Dauphin to the Saskatchewan boundary while supporting municipal and provincial projects and voter list reforms.
The Dauphin town council passed a resolution urging Dominion government legislation to observe Nov 11 across Canada as a public holiday in memory of the end of the two world wars. The move follows Dauphin's local practice of declaring Remembrance Day a holiday with stores closing and displays. The council also noted a potential holiday on Jan 2 1950 if Jan 1 falls on a Sunday, per Dominion practice.
R C M P arrested three local juveniles who confessed to break-ins at the Co Op grocery store and the Dauphin auction mart. Goods and a rifle were recovered. No charges or trial date set yet, and police continue to investigate other break-ins and a recent attack on a town woman.
Ernest N. McGirr K.C. coalition candidate defeated CCF rival George J. Jackman 2 855 to 1 104 in Dauphin constituency. Voter turnout around 56 percent with 3 959 votes cast as lists omitted names on election day. The Manitoba coalition secured 42 seats to 13 for opposition with CCF as official opposition.
The Dauphin branch of the Canadian Legion asks town council to investigate low rental housing for veterans. A Legion committee, led by L. P. Beech, reports 32 responses and 45 to 50 potential local applicants. Council may apply for about 15 homes, with a target to build next summer if legislation allows. Mayor Bullmore commended the effort and pledged full consideration.
