The Dauphin report says Mrs. Norman learned at Paterson that her brother in law, Mr. MacLeod, was aboard HMS Northern Rover. The small Royal Navy auxiliary vessel joined the Royal Naval Reserve at Stornoway last spring and was called for service at the start of hostilities. He previously served on a similar vessel in the last war and fears the ship struck a mine.

Dauphin Cryp Improvement Club Sets Next Wheat Plot Plan
At its annual meeting held Saturday the Dauphin Cryp Improvement Club decided to grow wheat in seed plots next year. Prize money totaling 40 dollars was distributed for the past season with Wyman Arthurs winning first, Robt L Boughen second, and Nicola Werbicki and A A Spencer tied for third. Officers for the ensuing year are Earl Miller president, Wyman Arthurs vice president, B F Boughen secretary treasurer, with Nicola Werbicki and H A Timm as executive members. Next meeting set for Dec 2 at 3 p m at the Co op elevator. All farmers interested in seed improvement invited.

Wallace Dies After Chronic Illness in Dauphin
William Wallace, longtime community figure in Dauphin, dies after a illness persisting since July. He built a jewellery store and hotel properties, was a former civic leader, a keen sportsman in lacrosse and baseball, and a church member. Funeral at United Church followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery. Survived by daughter Mrs. O C Steele and two grandchildren Georgina and John Steele, plus nephew Alex Wallace.
