Armistice Day events include a town hall celebration led by G H Palmer MLA with songs and dances by McMurray’s Jazz Hounds. Also reported are the Coroner’s Jury ruling natural death in Gougeon case, plans for a Dauphin golf club, social gatherings, and local notices on sales and meetings.
The annual convention of the School Trustees Association will be held in the Town Hall at 2 p.m. Several officers and members from the district will attend to discuss school policies and upcoming budget matters.
The Dauphin Musical Society reports successful rehearsals for the December 5 concert at the town hall featuring four Winnipeg vocalists. Associate memberships start at $1, with cards available from committee members or secretary A M Gammie. Rehearsals move to Mondays at 8 p.m. in Mackenzie School with only four sessions remaining before the show.
Members of the Royal Black Preceptory and Coronation lodge L O L held an At Home event on Friday November fifth in the I O C F hall. The evening featured a 500 game won by Mrs. G H Palmer who received a cut glass dish. Mrs Palmer and Rev H P Barrett contributed to the musical portion and short addresses were delivered by Revs Duncan and Barrett. Refreshments followed.

Wheat futures fell sharply over the past week as farmers hold grain and demand slows. Elevators report emptiness and shipping cars are ready, but poor road conditions halt deliveries and curb trade activity.
Fong Wah, a Chinese resident of British Columbia, was arrested by Chief Everett for unlawful opium possession. He appeared before P. M. Hawkins on Wednesday and was fined $200, paid by local Chinese residents, and he departed for new pastures.
Died of wounds received at Passchendaele on 6 November 1917 with the 27th City of Winnipeg Battalion. Private Garth Phare No 1000956, aged 21, buried at Poperinge Belgium. He previously left Dauphin with the 226th Battalion.
Attend the Methodist Ladies Aid Bazaar in the town hall on December 2 offering useful and pretty Christmas gifts. Supper served from 6 o clock followed by a sale of hand made quilts and home cooking.
Local ad urges shoppers to get oysters and fish at Baird’s. Another promotion lists 10 pounds of large winter onions for 50 cents at Montgomery’s.
